Mission: To provide and maintain an efficient, safe, and cost effective County Road and Bridge Transportation System to effectively meet citizen's needs for personal mobility and movement of goods.
Steele County Highway Department is responsible for the efficient planning, design, construction, and maintenance of highways and bridges on the County highway system, bridges on the Township highway system,
Responsibilities
- Planning, designing, construction, maintenance of highways and bridges on the County Highway System
- Planning, designing, construction, maintenance of highways on specific Townships Highway System
- Planning, designing, construction, maintenance of bridges on all Townships Highway System
Overweight/Over dimension Permits
Effective January 1, 2024 - Steele County Highway Department participates in LoadPass Permit systems. All permit requests can be found by clicking on the LoadPass link.
Pursuant to North Dakota Century Code Chapter 24-06-28 - State law prohibits a person from obstructing, or causing to be obstructed, any public highway or right-of-way.
